Stefan Johansson has been the Presiding Judge of the Nordic-Baltic Regional Division of the UPC since June 2023.
Stefan is on leave of absence from Stockholm District Court, where he is a Senior Judge and Head of Division, to work for the UPC. He has been a judge at Stockholm District Court since April 2013. This national court of first instance, which is the Swedish Patent and Market Court, has exclusive competence on patent cases in Sweden. Since 2016, the exclusive competence also covers administrative appeals from the Swedish Intellectual Property Office on e.g. patents (cf. BoA).
